2014 Popcorn Program End
The end of the Popcorn Selling Season is here!

Thanks so much for working hard to earn the funds necessary to make Pack 23 run!!! Here are the very important details to wrap-up our efforts:

Final Turn In is Wednesday, Oct 30 at Brian’s garage: 1024 S Elmwood

Last Names A-L: 6:30-7:30

Last Names M-Z: 7:30-8:30

If you can NOT make it, you must make arrangements with Brian to turn-in Oct 31 or Nov 1 (before 6 pm).

  • Unsold popcorn
  • Original, completed order form, including prize selection.
    Your totals must include ALL products sold – both from starter kit and other orders.
  • 1 copy of your order form.
  • Check/cash for the total sales, (NOT including online sales)
  • Check/cash for buy-out, if you were unable to reach the required $350 in sales*

*If you were unable to sell any popcorn, the buy-out amount is $100.00.

If you sold some popcorn, but did not reach the required $350 in sales, we ask that you pay 1/3 of the difference between your son’s actual sales and the goal. (This represents the profit the pack makes on this essential fundraiser). 

For example, if $200 is sold against the $350 goal, the difference = $150, so 1/3 = $50 due.

Sales Goals:

Since the popcorn fundraiser is our only fundraising activity, and providing a strong, quality program for our boys costs money, every scout is asked to sell popcorn.  It sounds tough, but it really isn't.  The boys grow with this experience, so encourage them, and help them... but try not to do it all for them.  

Every scout needs to sell $300 worth of popcorn product.  Selling at Show-and-Sells counts toward this goal.  The Pack gets to keep 1/3rd of the total sales.  If your scout doesn't reach the $300 goal or is not able to sell popcorn, we ask that the family contribute the difference.  For instance, if the scout sells $200 of popcorn, then the family would contribute $33.

Ways to Sell:                                                               
Show and Deliver
  • The Scout picks up popcorn on consignment.  He sells what he can and returns the rest with no penalty.
  • The Scout, with his Akela, goes door to door with a Take Order Form
  • The Scout carries Trail's End Popcorn with him (in a van or car) and is able to fulfill the customer's popcorn order right away.
Take Orders
  • The Scout with his Akela goes door to door with a Take Order Form.  Take Order Forms will provided during the Popcorn Kickoff 
  • If the Scout does not have what the customer wants in his stock (or has no stock), the customer writes his/her order on the Take Order Form and the Scout collects the money.
  • The Scout processes the order and delivers the Popcorn to the Customer in a few weeks.
Selling at Work
  • Mom and/or Dad take an order form to their work.
  • Fellow co-workers write their order on the order form.
  • Mom and/or Dad deliver product and collect the money in a few weeks.
  • (It is best to collect the money upfront when possible)
Selling Online
  • The Scout communicates his Order Key via email, phone, and so on, to potential or existing customers. The Customer can go online and purchase popcorn with a Credit Card  at http://www.trails-end.com/trailsend/scouts/
  • The Product is shipped directly from Trail’s End to the customer and the Scout and Unit receive credit for the Sale.
Show and Sells
  • Show and Sells make up a big part of our popcorn program. We've obtained permission from local businesses to set up a sales table.  Show and Sells have plenty of products on-hand for people to buy.  Different Scouts work at the table in shifts.  Always have adult supervision.  
  • Check the calendar for show and sell times and other important details.
Scouts can also create their own Show and Sell 
  • by reaching out to local businesses and getting permission to set up a table for sales.  If you do, be sure to let us know.  We're happy to help you help us by coordinating other Scout's participation and providing the popcorn!
Signing up for Show and Sells
  • More information will be available here on Show and Sells soon
  • Scouts should participate in as many Show and Sells as possible

Our fundraising effort helps to make Scouting a great experience for our sons, siblings and parents.  Here is a just a small sampling of the 2013/14 activities supported by your fund raising efforts and participation:
