2014 Popcorn Program
Our Pack sells Trails-End popcorn through a sanctioned by the Boy Scouts of America and as our one – and only – fund raiser. We sell popcorn from mid-September through the end of October. Since this is our one and only fund raiser, we ask all the scouts to participate. It can be a lot of fun to go out and talk to people. 

The pack has set up a number of organized selling events in front of local businesses with the kind cooperation of these businesses.  We call these events "Show and Sells".  Please sign up here for the show and sell events for the times that you want to participate.  If the boys go with one of their den buddies, these events are usually a lot of fun for them.  

We ask that only the scouts who sign up for the event work the event.  This is to keep from having too many scouts sell in one place.  There are plenty of opportunities to choose from, so sign up for another one if the one you are looking at is full.

Sales Goals:

Since the popcorn fundraiser is our only fundraising activity, and providing a strong, quality program for our boys costs money, every scout is asked to sell popcorn.  It sounds tough, but it really isn't.  The boys grow with this experience, so encourage them, and help them... but try not to do it all for them.  

We require every scout sell $300 worth of popcorn. The Pack keeps 1/3rd of the total sales.  If your scout doesn't reach the $300 goal or is not able to sell popcorn, we ask that the family contribute the difference to the Pack. For instance, if the scout sells $200 of popcorn, then the family would contribute $33.  If you really can not or do not wish to sell, the "buy out" is $100. Selling at Show-and-Sells counts toward this goal.  

Ways to Sell:                                                               
In-Person Sales
  • We have found that scouts have more success selling door-to-door when they can deliver the popcorn right then.  
  • So the Scout picks up popcorn on consignment.  He sells what he can and returns the rest with no penalty.
  • The Scout, with an adult, goes door to door with a Take Order Form and/or popcorn.
  • The Scout carries popcorn with him (in a van or car) and is able to fulfill the customer's popcorn order right away
  • If the Scout does not have what the customer wants in his stock (or has no stock), the customer writes his/her order on the Take Order Form and the Scout collects the money.
  • The Scout processes the order and delivers the Popcorn to the Customer in right before Thanksgiving.
Selling at Work
  • Mom and/or Dad take an order form to their work.
  • Fellow co-workers write their order on the order form.
  • Mom and/or Dad deliver product and collect the money around Thanksgiving.
  • (Because you will need to turn in your money end of October and deliver around Thanksgiving, it is best to collect the money upfront when possible)
Selling Online
  • The Scout communicates his Order Key via email, phone, and so on, to potential or existing customers. The Customer can go online and purchase popcorn with a Credit Card  at http://www.trails-end.com/trailsend/scouts/
  • The Product is shipped directly from Trail’s End to the customer and the Scout and Unit receive credit for the Sale.
Show and Sells
  • Show and Sells make up a big part of our popcorn program. We've obtained permission from local businesses to set up a sales table.  Show and Sells have plenty of products on-hand for people to buy. Different Scouts work at the table in shifts. Always have adult supervision.  
  • Check the calendar for show and sell times and other important details.
Scouts can also create their own Show and Sell 
  • By reaching out to local businesses and getting permission to set up a table for sales.  If you do, be sure to let us know.  We're happy to help you help us by coordinating other Scout's participation and providing the popcorn!
