Welcome to the Bear Den

Den Number 2

Third Grade
      or 8-9 Yrs

Den Leader
      James Downing
Our Goals   In the Bear Den, there are four general achievement groups: God, Country, Family, and Self. There are 120 achievement tasks and your Bear Cub must earn a certain number of achievements in each of the four groups to earn his Bear Badge.  This is the year your son will grow in amazing ways. After earning their Bear Badge, the scout may earn arrow points by completing additional achievement tasks.

Summary Much of the advancement for the Bear rank is done by the scout with his family outside of the den.  The parent signs off in the scout's handbook and the Den Leader records the advancements from the handbook in our tracking Software.  The Bear program relies heavily on family involvement, but you will see this gradually change with the scout doing more with his den and more individual direction as he graduates to Webelos.

Ready to join? Then you probably have some questions. Email the Den Leader at the link above and leave your phone number and we will get back with you as soon as possible.

What the Bears are "Doing"...
  • Welcome Tigers!
Welcome to all the new Scouts!

We had our first official Pack Meeting on Monday 9/15/14 at Longfellow School.  We will be meeting again on Monday, September 29 at 6:30pm.  If you know some friends who are interested in joining scouts, invite them to come to the meeting!

I have 1 Tiger Hat and 2 Tiger Scarves available for anyone who still needs them for their uniform.  Please send me (Chad) a note to let me know you would like them.  You don't need the blue scout pants because blue jeans are much easier.  I do have one pair of Scout pants (size 6) available though if your Scout is totally into the uniform :)

The patches are all available at the Scout store.  The closest one is in Chicago on Adams by Racine.  See below for a google map location.

Your Scout will need the following:
1 of Des Plaines Valley Council Patch
    1 of a red number 2
    1 of a red number 3
1 of purple "world crest" patch
    1 "Den 4" patch

See this page for all the information on patches.
