2018 Summer Camp Dates

We have a couple great camp choices for summer camp!

Rainbow Scout Reservation is in Morris, IL - just an hour or so West of here.  The counselors, the organization and the program is fantastic.  The boys get to choose their own things they want to work on or do, and they can get required achievements done for their next year's badge!

Camp Roto-Kiwan is in Kalamazoo, MI - a few hours drive.  This camp is situated on a beautiful private lake that is crystal clear and full of fish.  The waterfront is sandy and fun, and the fishing is great.  The camping here is either in tents or in the buildings, but it can be hot in the buildings.  The food at this camp is exceptional and the staff is a lot of fun.

Both camps offer BB guns and Archery and both are tons of fun!

Please enter your preference for summer camp below.

UPDATED 2017 Fall Campout

posted Oct 14, 2017, 7:14 AM by Committee Chair Pack23   [ updated Oct 14, 2017, 7:23 AM ]

Hi Scouts!

The weather didn't cooperate with our first weekend choice, so we re-planned for October 21-22!

Our Pack does 2 campouts every year.  One in the Spring and one in the fall.  Our 2017 Fall Family Campout will be Saturday, October 21 to 22.  We will be camping at the Blackwell Forrest Preserve Youth Camp in DuPage county.  the address of the campground entrance is:  28W580 Mack Rd, West Chicago, IL

Here is the google address for the camp ground.

We will be in camp sites 6 and 7 which are at the end of the parking lot near the turn-around.  See the map below.  We usually have a nice warm campfire, do some skits, maybe sing a song or two, and learn a few skills or things about nature. Its a great time!

The campout will start on Saturday, October 21.  We will meet at the camp site on Saturday anytime after 1pm.  If you have sporting events on Saturday, come out after the sports events are done.  We will stay one night and come back on Sunday afternoon.

We plan on cooking dinner on Saturday and Breakfast on Sunday together.  To be good stewards of the environment, we will use reusable dishes, so please bring a mess kit for everyone in your family attending. We will have wash stations to clean up afterwards.  We usually have basic meals that include meat and can include dairy and gluten, so if your diet has restrictions to these, please plan on bringing some appropriate food for yourself.

The cost is free for Cub Scouts of Pack 23 and his family!

Please sign up on the form below before Friday October 20.  The form includes how many people from your family will be attending, so we know how much food to buy.

Feel free to reference this handy Gear List to help you pack for the trip.  If you need a tent or any gear, send a note to a leader or enter it on the sign up form below.

It can be chilly at night on our campouts, so make sure you plan ahead.  A nice, warm sleeping bag is a must, and some sort of sleeping pad or air mattress is very helpful.  A couple warm blankets work well too.  If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Summer Camp 2017

Hi Scouts!

Its time to sign up for Summer Camp!  We have some great options for summer camp this year that include both our own council camps and some neighboring council camps.  Last year we went to Kalamazoo Michigan to camp Roto-Kiwan.  That was a great time and a wonderful camp, and is an option again this year.  We also have Rainbow Scout Reservation in Morris IL, a short drive west of here.  Our Pathway To Adventure Council (PTAC) has the Adventure Camp in Rochelle Illinois.  Adventure Camp reviews have not been as good as the other camps.
Here are the links to the 3 different camps:
Camp Roto-Kiwan in Kalamazoo, MI - This camp is $155 for Scouts and $85 for adults before May 15.  This is a 3 day and 2 night camp.
Rainbow Scout Reservation in Morris, IL - This camp is $165 for Scouts and $85 for adults before June 6.  This is a 4 day and 3 night camp.
Adventure Camp in Rochelle, IL -- Click on the Cub Scout Overnight Camps for the similar camp to the two above.  This is 3 days and 2 nights and costs $75 for Scouts and $50 for Adults before June 1.  The day camps and family camps are also available at this link, which are also fun options.

Our poll of Scouts and Families earlier this year showed that the Rainbow Scout Reservation session 2, July 28 to 31 was the time when most Scouts could attend.

To sign up for either the Roto-Kiwan camp or Rainbow, please sign up on the form below.  These camps want the Pack to sign up as a unit, so I will do the initial registration once we know how many are attending.  For any other camps (Adventure Camp or Day camp or Family camp), please use the form to let me know which camp, but also sign up on the web site.

Registration forms and medical forms will follow after we get the initial signup done.

Please sign up before April 30, 2017 so we can get the early bird discount!

If you have any questions, email Chad at Committee.chair.pack23@gmail.com
