Hi Pack 23!

Quick reminder that this Sunday is the Pack Swim.   We're asking people to arrive between 1:00 and 1:30, so the leaders can enjoy the pool as well.  Provided you arrive between 1 and 1:30, the event is free, and is a great time to get some exercise, have some fun and enjoy the pool (and hot tub) for a couple hours during an otherwise wintery weekend.

The address and info about the pool can be found here:

Ski Trip Sign Up:  March 1st is our Pack 23 Ski Trip.  We have 39 slots reserved on a. first come first serve basis.  The cost is $30 per person for Skiing and an additional $10 per person for lessons.  It's a great deal and a lot of fun.

The sign up document can be found here or

Den Meetings - First Tiger Meeting 10/21

posted Oct 15, 2019, 11:45 AM by Derek Janu-Chossek

Hi Scouts and Parents -

We had a great campout over the weekend.  It was a beautiful, albeit windy, weekend and a nice time to catch up with some new families.   Thanks to all who were able to attend.

In the coming weeks, you should be receiving an email from your Den Leader informing you of your first meeting.

If you haven't please feel free to reach out to

With that in mind, we wanted to let everyone know that the first Tiger Den meeting (1st grade) is on 10/21 at 6:30 in the Longfellow Lunch Room (Door 11S).   We will start discussing the year with the families and boys and then have a quick overview for the year.    It's not too late to join, so if you have a child in 1st grade please attend!

Look forward to seeing you soon -

There is no cost for this event!  The entire family is welcome.   We do ask everyone to sign up here so we can plan enough food.  It's one of our two campouts a year and it's a great time for returning scouts to reconnect and for new scouts to get to know scouts and their families.   Typically, most arrive mid to late afternoon after sporting events and leave Sunday morning after breakfast.   If you haven't been, Rock Cut is a hidden gem just north of Rockford.

Summer Camps 2019

posted Mar 31, 2019, 7:00 PM by Committee Chair Pack23

Hi Scouts!
Summer Camp is right around the corner.  Please use this form to help identify the best time and place for the group to go to summer camp this year.  We have listed the 2 camps we regularly attend: Rainbow Scout Reservation (IL) and Roto-Kiwan (MI).

BSA is encouraging Webelos to go to separate camps, and have made a few options available.  These camps are usually Boy Scout camps, and these programs are geared for Webelos to do a bunch of achievements, and get a head start on the year.  A few of these camps are further north in Wisconsin (Napowan), and Michigan (Owasippe), while one is at Roto-Kiwan near Kalamazoo, MI.  The regular Cub Scout overnight camps are still available for Webelos as well, but are not geared for them.

If you have a kindergarten age son that wants to go to camp, they can go.  We would just need to register them with BSA before the camp.

There is also an option for Family Camp where the whole family can go.  This is held at Camp Betz here in Illinois.

The camps range from 3 days and 2 nights to 4 days and 3 nights.  A parent is required to attend with the Scout.

Pack 23 Family Ski Trip Feb 10

posted Jan 21, 2018, 7:02 PM by Committee Chair Pack23   [ updated Jan 29, 2019, 9:08 PM ]

Hi Scouts!

We have an excellent opportunity to go skiing at Cascade Mountain in Wisconsin on Sunday, February 10, 2019!

The BSA and the Cascade Mountain pair up to hold an event for Scouts and their families to ski for the whole day for $20 which includes the equipment rental!

Here's the basic info:
  • Parents and Siblings can participate for the same price.
  • Each participant must have a waiver form filled out -- Click here for the waiver form
  • Anyone 10 and up can sign up for ski or snowboard group lessons for $5 (first come, first served)
  • Group lessons start at 10am and 12pm.  You need to be signed up and ready a half hour before.
  • Under 10 you can sign up for lessons from the Cascade Kids Program at the mountain for individual instruction.  Contact the Ski school for more information at 608-742-5588.  Let them know you are with the Pack 23 group on 2/10.
  • The Lifts start at 9am on Sunday 2/10.
  • There are a few hotels near the mountain if you want to stay in the area, otherwise you can drive up in the morning.
  • We will have a convenient place to meet to get your lift tickets the morning of the event for the first few hours. Someone will be available by phone until about noon with the lift tickets.  Lets try to get all the lift tickets distributed by 10:30am so no one has to stand around waiting.
  • We need to let them know the number of participants ahead of time, and we need to pay for and receive the lift tickets on the morning of 2/10.
  • Because we need to do it all at once, you need to sign up, fill out the waiver for each participant, and pay ahead of time.
  • To sign up, fill out the form below, fill out the waivers for each participant, and put them in an envelope and drop them off at the Bohlmann House at 818 S Cuyler, before the end of the day, Monday 2/4.
  • The last day to sign up will be February 4th.

More information will follow as we get closer to the event.

Hi Scouts!

Please use this link to sign up for the Shedd Aquarium Overnight happening on February 2, 2018.  This is a great opportunity to enjoy some of the great museum attractions here in Chicago with lots of your friends.  Please sign up before the evening of Sunday January 21.  We need to give them final numbers on Monday, January 22.

Check-in will begin at 6 PM on Friday evening February 2 and the event ends at 8:30 AM on Saturday February 3.  However, you are welcome to stay on Saturday for as long as you want for no further charge.

All exhibits will be open for specific lengths of time during the event.  There will be an aquatic presentation at 7:30.  You will also have an opportunity to see the current "4-D" movie showing as well as a late night "standard format" movie.  Food will be provided:  a dinner, a late-night snack, and breakfast in the morning.

The pack will be assigned a location to sleep somewhere to be determined in one of the Waters of the Worlds galleries. You will need to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, and sleeping pad.

A parent must accompany each scout.  The cost will be $37.50 for each scout and $75 for each parent or other family member who comes along.  This is a good value compared to what you would pay for all of these activities through general admission!
