2016 Fall Campout

Hi Scouts!

It is that time of year again to get out and go CAMPING!

Our Pack does 2 campouts every year.  One in the Spring and one in the fall.  Our 2016 Fall Family Campout is coming up quickly.  We will be joining the camporee on October 14 to 16 at the Rochelle adventure camp: 4492 S. Knoll Rd., Rochelle, Illinois 61068

A Camporee is a campout for Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts together.  And of course, all Cub Scout camping involves the family too.  This camporee theme is the "undead camporee" to get in the spirit of halloween.  We will be camping as a Pack in one of the larger areas as we normally do, and we will prepare our meals as a group as usual.

The campout will start on Friday evening, October 14 sometime after 6pm.  If you have sporting events and can't make it on Friday evening, or have sporting events on Saturday, come out after the sports events are done.  Families are welcome to stay either or both nights.

We plan on cooking something light on Friday evening, then cook Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner on Saturday and Breakfast on Sunday together.  To be good stewards of the environment, we try to use reusable dishes, so please bring a mess kit for everyone in your family attending.  We will have wash stations to clean up afterwards.

The Pack covers the cost for this campout thanks to our Flower Fundraiser last year!  So come out and enjoy the fun!

Please sign up on the form below before October 12.  The form includes how many people from your family will be attending and when, so we know how much food to buy for each meal.  This won't lock you in, but we need an idea of how many people to prepare for.

Some fun things that will be going on at the camporee:

Zombies vs The Living (capture the flag), costume contest, Chili Cook-off (send Chad a note if you want to enter some chili!), Obstacle courses, fishing, exploring, camp fire skits and songs and lots of fun.

Feel free to reference this handy Gear List to help you pack for the trip.  If you need a tent or any gear, send a note to a leader or enter it on the sign up form below.

The past few years it has been chilly at night on our campouts, so make sure you plan ahead.  A nice, warm sleeping bag is a must, and some sort of sleeping pad or air mattress is very helpful.  A couple warm blankets work well too.  Some good techniques are to have a sleeping pad on the ground, a warm sleeping bag and a thick fleece blanket or two that you wrap yourself with.  If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
